Debrief, Detox and Deodorize

Cole went to 4-H Robotics camp last week. He checked in Sunday night and we picked him up Friday night. We didn't talk to him all week. It was rough. For us.
Cole had a great time. They built Lego Robots and programmed them with the computer to do lots of things. They also learned about GPS and GIS.

Before camp started I tried to impart some motherly advice. You know, the kind of stuff that you wish you didn't ever have to tell your kids like....shower and brush your teeth once in a while.

We picked Cole up last night and went out to eat so he could tell us all about camp - the debriefing. It was a typical camp. There was a counselor that everyone liked and one that no one liked. There was sleep deprivation. There were a lot of funny things that happened that "you had to be there" for, and there was the camp romance. :)

They stayed at the college and ate all their meals at the cafeteria. Cole mentioned that he had pop at every meal....even breakfast. WHAT! He said he was so tired all the time (sleep deprivation) and he "just wasn't making it" so he had pop whenever he could. That explained his inability to sit still, finish a sentence or maintain good eye contact. He got up to get a refill on his Pepsi and John and I decided that detox was needed. We hope he will pull through.

At one point in the conversation he mentioned that he only showered one time....on Tuesday. Double WHAT! Seems that the bathroom shower situation was just not private enough for ole Coleman. Oh boy. They should make a special high powered deodorant for middle-schoolers.
And....some sort of incentive to use it.

We are glad to have our boy home. I made him shower - much to his dismay.

I just had some late-night inspiration about getting middle school boys to use deoderant! We need to somehow tie it to video games. We could market the product as "a gaming enhancer that allows your arms to swing freely which in turn keeps your thumbs activated for all types of gaming action." Something like W-D 40 for the body. I'm game to pursue this if you are!!! :)--Carolyn

I think you are definitely on to something there! Go for it!
The mothers of middle schoolers will be forever in your debt!
