Blondes Have More Fun

This is Blondie. She is learning to be a cart pulling horse. She is a little on the small side to be a working ranch horse right now but is so sweet and kind and eager to learn that maybe....just maybe she can be a cart horse. That would be so fun. This was her first lesson.

The dog, Ring, is there in case any ranch security is needed. He is good that way. Rex, the other dog is probably chasing a cat somewhere. He is bad that way.

The horse in the background is Penny. Her real name is Penny Beggar but we just call her Penny. She is going to be sold soon but she doesn't know it. She is BFF with Blondie.

Hubby John is manning the driving reins and trying to get Blondie used to taking some direction from the backseat. See that scarf around his neck? That is a neck scarf. Yep. A lot of cowboys wear them. It was kinda chilly that evening so he donned the neck scarf. This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago when Mackenzie and Whitney D were here for the night. John was getting ready to go outside and was putting on his vest and started to tie his neck scarf and Kenzie said "Nice necklace." He froze in the action of tying his supremely masculine scarf and said "This is NOT a necklace...it is a neck scarf!" Kenzie said "Whatever." :) She is not easily impressed. That drives John crazy. It makes me laugh.

This is as far as the project has gone for now. We don't have a cart and we don't have harness for Blondie yet....this was just borrowed and it is actually for a mule! But in the interest of getting Blondie used to being all trussed up and stuff....it worked out just fine.
