Parade of Lights

John drove Doc's team in the Parade of Lights a couple of Fridays ago. Doc has to work at the Crawford salebarn on Friday's and doesn't get done there in time to get back to Chadron to harness the team and get them to Main Street.
The picture above is from a couple of years ago....I tried to get some new ones.....

The wagon always goes last in the parade and carries Santa. Here is Zac and Margo and Bryant...they were riding in the last seat and having a good time. The Palmer boys rode along this year. Bruce rode shotgun. Cole was recovering from a cold and didn't want to ride this year. It was the coldest parade I remember. The van recorded the temp at +2 degrees. In spite of that there were 17 floats and the streets were full of onlookers. I took the van to the courthouse and backed in the slot along with a lot of other people so we could watch from the van while blowing the heater on high.
The streets were icy and the parade only went 2 blocks. Here is Bruce getting off to help Santa and his helper off the float. The rest all rode out to the vet clinic to unharness and put stuff away.

The team did well except when they passed under the stoplight. Those always freak Maynard out a little. Good thing Jane has a good head on her shoulders! The lights were powered by a generator hooked onto the back of the wagon. Our guys didn't win one of the three prizes but they all had a good time even though they were mighty frozen by the time we loaded up to go home.
